IIT-JEE 2011
I started my JEE preparations with a lot of zeal and enthusiasm right from Class IXth itself. Basically, it all started with my visit to IIT Powai with my parents where the thought of coming down to an IIT campus as a student got firmly rooted in my brain.
Much credit for keeping me going in these four years goes to my parents, who really did everything to ensure that right environment is provided to me and all necessary facilities are at my disposal. My younger brother too always was by my side to help me in his own way. I really feel indebted to GOD for having given me such a wonderful family.
My message to future aspirants would be:
- It is really important to balance all the three subjects. Although usually students have a particular inclination towards a specific subject but it is very important to understand that it is the total score that counts and not exceptional score in any particular subject.
- Always remember that there is no substitute for hard work. This examination requires you to remain focused and dedicated towards your goal as the competition is really intense.
- Try to be normal under exam conditions. Take every sample test that you give as if it is the actual JEE paper. This will help you in staying cool when you really face the examination and thus enable you to give your best .
- There may be times during your preparation when you feel down and come out with a poor performance in a test. But never under such circumstances lose confidence. Always have faith in yourself and your abilities and try to work even harder next time.
- Identify your weak spots and lay special emphasis on them. Prepare a study plan that gives that particular topic more time as compared to other sections .
- Focus at each and every topic and try to clear all the concepts all the way through. The emphasis should always be on trying many types of problems rather than many problems of the same type.
- Above all , do realize that half the battle is won in the mind! I always felt I would get into IIT. I never doubted my abilities. And then backed up my thinking by supplementing it with adequate amount of study. Because, remember, there is really no substitute to hard work.
Go through a book named : Psychology of Success in IITJEE by Anuj Khare. That’s a wonderful small book by an IITIAN…
Good Luck to you all….{Swapnil Shwetank Jha}
