IIT-JEE 2010 overview
The pattern of paper was different in terms of number of questions in Paper I as compared to JEE 2009, with a little change in questions from different sections.
Physics paper of 2010 was easier than 2009 in terms of lengthiness and difficulty level. In certain questions you just had to see the direction vector. There was no exceptionally difficult problem in the paper.
The beauty of JEE paper is that they only ask logical and conceptual question from chemistry which makes this section easy. This time physical chemistry weightage was higher than usual. It was around 40%. Question was NCERT based and any sincere student will feel it like pie. In organic chemistry questions were on famous name reactions. Physical chemistry was straight foreword and mostly were formula based. P –block & coordination chemistry had huge weightage in inorganic chemistry. Sections like salt analysis where you have to memorize are not asked much and so was this time.
As usual heavy weight age was of calculus and algebra. They together covered around 60% of the paper. Math’s paper as usual was on the tougher end than chemistry and physics. Question were well of IIT standard but students with clear concept would have solved them. Partial marking made scoring bit easy which will uplift cutoff this time. This year and last few years questions are not lengthy and manipulative . They are rather conceptual and short tricks are required.
Regular practice and proper guidance can take through any kind of student in such type of paper. Partial marking made scoring bit easy which will uplift cutoff this time. Our daily test series and test series are aimed at arming students with tricks, aptitude and analytical ability. Learning all the concepts of IITJEE syllabus is a continuous process and our daily test series is a powerful tool in your hand. We wish all the best to JEE aspirants for 2011 and hope that our effort will provide some benefit to them.
EXPECTED CUT OFF
(Contributed by Faizan Khan, 1st year B. Tech. , IIT Kharagpur)
Expected cutoff score is around 180 for general catogery. This year total question were decreased from 130 to 120 and the subjective type questions were more, which consumes much time of students. The overall paper this year was easier than last year . Last year the cutoff for the general category was 190 marks and this year too the cutoff is expected to be a notch above last year owing to partial marking in many questions , but considering the increase in seats (total seats are expected to be about 11000-12000 this year) , we are of opinion that cutoff will be close to 180.
